The Department of Civil Engineering was formed along with the Institute itself and is therefore just as old. As a developing nation, we have immense need of construction professionals and those who can not only engineer, but manage all the peripherals.
The department endeavours to fulfil such demand of the market. It has been one of the most active faculties of the Institute by constantly being in touch with the industry through Government Sponsored or Freelance projects for the Municipal Corporation to District Administration to the Union Government. The Department is also a Nodal Agency for the Pradhan Mantri Sadak Yojna (Prime Minister’s Road Project) and the National Ambient Air Quality Mission, CPCB for technical and environmental support.
With some of the most experienced faculty – including the mikes of Directors of NIT s, the Civil Engineering Department is all set to herald in the growth story of India. This security is ensured by the presence of various laboratories in the campus – a Geotechnical Engineering Lab, Transportation Lab, Geology Lab with Electric Resistively Instruments, an advanced Survey and Spatial Analysis facility with Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System besides many others. |
